ABOUT PLANNED DIYA PROPERTY APARTMENT COMPLEX

As you are aware, there has been a plan for many years to convert the Diya property   into a 297 rental apartment building with an in-ground parking lot and other amenities.

The plans have changed over the years and near the phase where the owner and contractors are seeking final approval from the City of Gaithersburg.

This added residential complex will bring increased traffic including:

• Use of Arch and Granite by the residents of the 297-unit apartment complex as well as commercial traffic (e.g. trash vehicles, school buses, delivery trucks, visitors, contractors, etc.)
• Addition of a right turn “in” only from a highly congested road just a few car lengths from Great Seneca Highway forcing all traffic to use Arch and Granite to go east on Quince Orchard Road (e.g. enroute to Great Seneca Highway, 270, Costco, etc.)
• Increased traffic on the highly-travelled and frequently congested Booth Street – a gateway to the center of the retail and services area of The Kentlands – that will lead the traffic down Arch to access the two-way traffic and parking that will circulate the new apartment complex
