Committees assist Board members by addressing specific community issues and tasks and serving in an advisory role for the benefit of the community. As a general rule, they gather information, assess problems and recommend solutions to the Board. Below are the various committees for The Colonnade at Kentlands:

The Events Committee plans and facilitates a variety of activities that bring the Colonnade community – owners and residents – together in our amenity rooms and at off-site locations such as nearby Seneca Creek State Park.

Committee members’ responsibilities:

  • Develop an annual events calendar including the popular Summer Pool Party, Autumn Cookout in the Park, Winter Party, Chili Cook-Off, BYOEs (bring your own everything), and more.
  • Develop and propose an annual events budget to be incorporated in the annual CCA budget (due to the CCA Board annually).
  • Propose new events that require budget monies to the CCA Board for approval in advance.
  • Actively promote events via bulletin board notices, Nextdoor Kentlands Colonnade Group posts, email blasts, and word-of-mouth.
  • Recruit and contact potential helpers to assist with planning, promoting, shopping, setting up, decorating and cleaning up.
  • Encourage others to join the Committee to bring in new ideas and energy.
  • Keep record of events’ attendance numbers, expenditures, timelines, and ways to enhance events and workflow in the future.

The Common Areas Committee functions as the steward of the Colonnade common areas, amenity rooms, and swimming pool.

Committee Members’ responsibilities:

  • Establish a schedule of inspections of common areas, amenity rooms and swimming pool.
  • Conduct inspections and report deficiencies needing immediate attention to the on-site property manager and/or the CCA Board Liaison.
  • Identify changes and improvements that would be beneficial, research options and their costs.
  • Propose recommendations, including the Committee’s suggested priorities, to the CCA Board and Property Manager for consideration.
  • Develop and propose a common areas and amenity rooms budget to be incorporated in the annual CCA budget, submit to the CCA Board annually.
  • Review and recommend revisions to policies regarding use and reservation of facilities to the CCA Board.

The Gym Committee oversees the Fitness Center and suggests improvements that could be made.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Identifying Fitness Center improvements, researching solutions and their costs.
  • Bringing the above to the attention of the CCA Board for approval.
  • Acting as the project manager for solution implementations.
  • Providing a proposed Fitness Center budget to be incorporated in the annual CCA budget.

Per section 5 of the By-Laws an architectural committee will be formed by no less then 3 people to approve changes to common areas which include but are not limited to:

  • Balconies
  • Storage units
  • Common Areas
  • Changes internal to the unit which require approval

Committee Chair: Michele Rubinstein

The Security Committee is charged with ensuring and improving the security of Colonnade residents and their property.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Identifying potential security exposures, then researching solutions and their costs.
  • Bringing recommendations to the attention of the CCA Board for approval.
  • Acting as the project manager for solution implementations.
  • Proposing a security budget to be incorporated in the annual CCA budget.

Committee Chair: Billy Oshinsky

The Garage Committee oversees the parking facilities and suggests improvements that could be made. (May be merged with the Security Committee)

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Identifying Colonnade Garage improvements, researching solutions and their costs.
  • Bringing the above to the attention of the CCA Board for approval.
  • Acting as the project manager for solution implementations.
  • Providing a proposed Garage improvement budget to be incorporated in the annual CCA budget.

Committee Chair: Billy Oshinsky

The Communications Committee manages and seeks to enhance communication to and among Colonnade residents.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Identifying Colonnade Communication needs, researching solutions and their costs.
  • Bringing recommendations to the attention of the CCA Board for approval.
  • Acting as the project manager for implementing any new communications tools or changes to existing channels.
  • Managing the Colonnade website, newsletter and email alerts, and overseeing the Colonnade webmaster.

Committee Chair: Gary Ayvazov

The Telecommunications Committee seeks to investigate new internet provider possibilities for the Colonnade residents.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Identifying Colonnade internet needs, researching solutions and their costs.
  • Bringing recommendations to the attention of the CCA Board for approval.
  • Acting as the project manager for implementing any new internet tools or changes to existing providers.

Committee Chair: Jon Seppala

The Landscape Committee oversees the trees, bushes, flowers and other plantings on the Colonnade grounds in an effort to beautify the property and increase property values.

Specific responsibilities of the Landscape Committee include:

  • Identifying landscape maintenance and improvement needs and researching solutions and costs.
  • Reporting the Committee findings to the CCA Board of Directors for consideration.
  • Reporting landscape issues to the management that need to be addressed by the landscape contractor.
  • Responding to resident concerns regarding landscape via the newly created landscape committee email address: landscaping@kentlandscca.com
  • Providing a recommendation to the CCA Board annually for the landscape budget line item.

Committee Chair: Andrea Tasan

The Mailroom Committee oversees the delivery of packages to the Colonnade being left in the mailroom and at external doors instead of being dropped off at unit owner doors.

Specific responsibilities of the Mailroom Committee include:

  • How to effectively communicate with the delivery vendors.
  • Reporting the Committee findings to the CCA Board of Directors for consideration.
  • Recommending signage updates around the property to assist in better delivery of packages.
  • Responding to resident concerns regarding package via the landscape committee email address: mailroom@kentlandscca.com
